. The company was originally founded by Jack Carter in 1903 under the name of The Oxford Window Cleaning and Carpet Beating Company. The invention of the vacuum cleaner put paid to the carpet beating and the company name evolved to what it is now. Jack ran it very successfully until 1957 when Derek White and Robin Hewson allowed him to retire by buying the business. They retired in 2001, the window cleaning company passed down through the family and the business has evolved into what it is today. We became one of the first companies in the area to use the revolutionary water fed pole system, commonly known as "Reach & Wash". We started using this system because we were concerned about the hazards involved in using ladders as a means of accessing high level windows. The Oxford Window and Office Cleaning Company has a long tradition of quality service and competitive pricing.
. Using the water fed pole method of window cleaning means that we no longer rely on ladders to help us reach high windows. This completely removes many of the risks and hazards that window cleaners were exposed to in the past. Our poles can reach windows up to 20 metres or 65 feet from the ground and we can access anywhere up to 150 metres from where our vans are parked.
. Compliance with current Health and Safety at Work and Working at Height legislation is vital to any modern window cleaning business and we are no exception. We have been accredited to the SAFEcontractor scheme run by National Britannia since 2005. With more than 140 major clients and almost 18,000 contractor members, SAFEcontractor is the fastest growing health and safety assessment scheme in the UK.
