In addition to standard dry cleaning we're also experts in Hydrocarbon Cleaning and Wet Cleaning.
These are professional cleaning methods for very delicate fabrics, including some which are unsuitable for standard dry cleaning.

We have the equipment and experience required to produce a beautiful shirt to wear.
Unlike most laundries or ironing services we don't just iron shirts, we use dedicated shirt equipment to produce a noticeably different finish to a shirt that has been just ironed.
Usually shirts are presented on a hanger, we can fold them for you if you wish for an additional charge.

Like most of England the Second World War was hard time for North East and Luxdon.
It wasn't not long before the Luxdon joined the war effort and started processing 10,000 bundles of Soldiers laundry each week in addition to some 5,000 household bundles and Dry Cleaning.
Mr Henry Lumsdon Taylor even found time to command a Company of the Home Guard!
In order to cope with rationing problems he also organised the Luxdon Gardens which grew sufficient vegetables to provide staff with a good midday meal.
It wasn't not long before the Luxdon joined the war effort and started processing 10,000 bundles of Soldiers laundry each week in addition to some 5,000 household bundles and Dry Cleaning.

During the Post War years the business bloomed with the introduction of the domestic Cellopac services pioneered by H Lumsdon Taylor and together with the Overall Replacement Service for Factories the business was now serving over 12,000 homes and processing 14,000 overalls per week.
Unfortuantely, in 1961 a serious fire destroyed the main premises but with the help of other regional laundries the business was continued until a new Factory was opened on Wycliffe Road in 1962.
At this point in time the Laundry operated 11 Sunderland Depots (or shops) with another 11 scattered around County Durham (from Barnard Castle to Seaham Harbour) as well as 1 in Gosforth.
